My Perfect Thanksgiving
Father, You have given me
so much to be thankful for.
My harvest has been overflowing -
I could not ask for more.
I see the coloured leaves float down -
make a quilt upon the ground;
I hear the children’s laughter
as they feel the warmth around.
Aromas of turkey, pies, and more
filter through open doors;
I can taste it all in my imagination -
a feast for kings and more.
It touches me - Your gifts of Love -
never could be greater;
I see, hear, smell and taste
and imagine families’ later....
Sitting ‘round a glowing fire -
the end of a perfect day.
Thanksgiving day in Canada
is celebrated in one’s own way.
I cuddle up with my loving dog
and give thanks for this special day;
Memories come floating back -
God’s gift for me today.
When I’ve come to the winter of my life
memories can warm me through -
Giving me a Thanksgiving Day
that’s perfect whatever I do.
