This First Autumn Morning
This first day of Autumn, all sunny
and bright,
makes me hum as I walk along.
The half-moon still visible in the sky,
and my heart becomes a song.
This wonderful artwork every day
is surely a gift to us all;
I see the leaves all changing colour -
an amazing season is fall.
The sun puts highlights on everything
-
colours are streaked with light;
How beautiful the mornings -
after a long, restful night.
The dew is on each blade of grass
-
no frost today, I see;
A perfect beginning to a beautiful season,
a soft, gentle entry 'twill be.
