What I Will Give

I've done no Christmas shopping
'though my list is fairly long.
I like to give some of myself -
and my heart becomes a song.

I picture each individual
and think of what I'll fix
And so I buy ingredients
and stitch and cook and mix.

Colours are important;
scents and taste matter, too.
It takes my time but, oh, what joy
as I plan just what I'll do.

Christmas is for giving, but,
when you haven't got a dime
The spirit lives and brightly shines
if you spend just a little time.
