Summer Respite
Clouds saunter by on a background
of summer blue;
A silent sky, beauty profound, painted for me and you.
Gentle whispers in the trees as the leaves delight in dance,
And many-coloured blossoms sway and the painting is enhanced.
The goldfinch sings his beloved
song while sitting in the tree;
The robin searches the plush-green grass - perhaps a worm he'll
see.
Sparrows line the top of the fence, each waiting their turn at
the bath,
And the garden-fairies try to hide as they play along the path.
Pinks, white, yellows and mauves,
and a little touch of reds,
Are backed by many shades of green, amongst the garden beds;
A respite in my garden, away from daily toil -
A time of quiet reflection for all that is truly royal.
