THE MANGER OF THE HEART

The shepherds heard the angels sing,
Tending sheep on the hills afar;
News was passed from peasant to king
And the wise men followed the star.
There was no room! Love Played its part -
Deep in the "manger" of the heart.

It is that spark deep down within
That urges us to share our love
And substance with our fellow men;
That knows its true source from above.
There is no room? Love plays its part -
Lighting the "manger" of the heart.

'Tis "happy Christmas" time again!
Small children find it hard to wait -
While cards and letters grownups pen.
Preparing gifts, we celebrate!
Now, there is room! Love played its part -
Born in the "manger" of the heart.
